Whilst many pupils leave ‘faith’ schools having received a broad education, equipped with a number of useful qualifications and well-prepared to navigate life as a full and participating member of modern society, others are not so fortunate.
A great many schools – mainly private – provide only a very narrow, scripture-based curriculum, which is in part designed to ensure that children remain isolated from the society that exists outside a particular religious community. There are a number of organisations, support networks, and services that are available to individuals who have experienced this kind of education and have decided to leave their communities.
